Had a wonderful day yesterday. Took a fishing boat out and they took us into a cave and then we stopped at a private beach for a swim, and had bread, olives, cucumber and Ouzo. It was the perfect day. The sea was beautiful and calm. Our next stop was to have lunch on anther beach, it was very delicious. Shade was hard to come by. Next stop was Paradise beach, it is know for nudity, even the guys. We saw several full monty’s
I also understand why it is the gay capital of Greece now too! Lots of fun! Enjoy the pics
Later that night Julie and I walked down the boardwalk and had a drink and then took the bus into town to have dinner and well shopping of course. Fun night!

I went to Delios today. It was extremely hot but I took my umbrella and was the envy of all. I shared
It was a really interesting island considering it is dry and barren. The only thing on Delos besides the ruins are the gift shop and the museum. The ruins are only 20% uncovered. Apollo and Artemis were born into the lake. It was said the Artemis “goddess of the hunt” was first and Apollo “the sun god” born an hour later, and by that time Artemis was grown enough to assist in the birth of her twin brother. The father was Zeus. I have a pic of me in the dried up lake/pond. The excavators dried it up due to a malaria scare.
A small group of us went into town and had dinner it was very nice. We then got some ice cream and strolled our way back up the the bus. The public bus is a story in its self. They really cram people on there. It will be totally full will people in the seats and standing and they will still pick up more. Luckily it was early and there were no unpleasant odors

boat ride over to Delios

me sweltering on Delios..i look unhappy but I really am enjoying myself

Julie and I at the birth place of Artemis and Apollo a.k.a. the only green spot on the island.

More ruins….

My breakfast buddy…can you see the look he is giving me…more meat.
I thought we had something but moments later he was someone elses buddy

Julie having her first enormous Greek beer, later I discovered that they are usually shared, but we managed to drink our own

We had a 3 hour ferry boat ride and then we arrive on the dry barrin island. Don’t get me wrong it holds a lot of beauty. It was so hot today and there is almost always a breese, not today. Tomorrow a tour of Delos the island where the Greek twin Gods Apollo and Artemis were born. The little beach here is so cute and looks so nice for relaxing under an umbrella and the ocean is almost the same tempurature as the air
Let you know tomorrow I hope to take a dip!

Had a very busy day. Lots and lots of walking! The Acropolis was way cool, but very crowded. The views from up there were amazing. The pictures could not capture it true beauty. Also, I got a really good idea of just how large Athens really is. It goes on forever.

I have met a gal on our trip that is also traveling solo. We were buddies today. We did the flea market and lunch, it was fun. Her name is Julie and she is from Australia. She is just a couple years younger than I am. She is very nice and not hard to get along with.

We had a nice dinner with Greek dancing this evening it was very fun to watch

Tomorrow we head out to first island Mykonos. We have to get up at 5 am. So I am going to keep it short. I am hoping that I can find internet to keep blogging.
The computer is being very very slow I will try to get pics up in the am.

Today was a nice leisure day. I headed out around 10 am and walked a bit and then jumped on the subway. I went down to parliament to see the changing of the guards. Then I headed out for some shopping. It is very warm in the sun and nice and cool in the shade for relief. I think this is the perfect time of year to visit. Greece is very laid back compared to other European countries. It has a really nice feel. There is English on almost everything, or the Greek word in English lettering so you can refer to your map and get around easily. The subway was the easiest part. Maybe thanks to my previous travel experience with Melissa was not nervous at all. Actually I have felt really comfortable here so far. I did get lost coming back to the hotel, but thanks to some helpful people I was able to redirect myself and make it back. Going out and walking around alone is really non threatening.
Met with our tour director and our group of 25 people. All that I met seemed very nice.
Tomorrow the ever famous Acropolis and a city tour…

View from just outside the subway station there was a park. There are so many parks here is Athens!

The Greek guards outside Parliament.

They change guards every hour on the hour.

Sam you would look great in a skirt like that, you have the legs for it

Decided to take a day trip to Delphi. Was really interested in seeing the ruins of Apollo. Also, wanted to get a glimpse of what it looked like inland. Looks a lot like southern California in many ways. Had really nice warm weather. Could not imagine being there when it is super hot. Had a great time and I plan to get to that shopping tomorrow
Most of my pics are from the ruins and then some from the museum that came from the excavation site. Will explain more later, ciao.
